Description
White Baneberry, or Doll's Eyes, is a common spring wildflower the mountains of East Tennessee. I captured this image while on a pilgrimage to a waterfall - there is always more to see than just what you came for! Both names for this perennial herb are references to its berries, which are white with a single dark dot at the tip: "baneberry" warns against eating them, as they are poisonous, and "doll's eyes" comes from their resemblance to the porcelain eyes once used in dolls.
