Description
The latin name, Lunaria, means "moon-shaped" and refers to the shape and appearance of the seedpods of this spring wildflower. The common name "Honesty arose in the 16th century, and may also relate to the translucence of the seedpods. It is also called "money plant" or "silver dollars" or "Chinese coins" because the seedpods look like silvery coins. Personally, I think its at its loveliest when the delicate purple flowers are blooming.
