Artist's Description
With just a touch of the sun not covered by the moon, the almost-total solar eclipse looks like a diamond ring in the sky. The corona also shows colors rarely seen, as the overall brightness of the sun is diminished. A touch of "Baily's Beads" is visible on the right, at about 3 o'clock ... these result from the unevenness of the moon's surface in the sun's light.
